International taxes

Handle international duties and VAT.

Overview

Selling internationally involves additional tax considerations including VAT, customs duties, and cross-border compliance.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

If you sell to EU customers, you may need to charge and collect VAT:

  • EU standard VAT rates range from 17% (Luxembourg) to 27% (Hungary)
  • Jewelry is typically subject to the standard rate in most EU countries
  • For B2B sales, the reverse charge mechanism may apply

Customs and duties

International orders may be subject to customs duties charged by the destination country. The buyer is typically responsible for these charges unless you offer Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping.

Warning

International tax compliance is complex and varies by country. We strongly recommend consulting with a tax advisor who specializes in cross-border e-commerce.
