Linking CAD files to products

Associate CAD files with SKUs so weight, alloy, and stone counts flow into pricing.

Overview

Linking a CAD file to a product in your catalog is what turns the CAD pipeline from a design tool into a pricing engine. Once linked, a SKU's weight, alloy, and stone counts flow automatically into pricing, and the 3D viewer appears on the product detail page.

Linking a file

  1. Open the product in /admin/products.
  2. In the Specs tab, click β€œLink CAD file”.
  3. Browse to the file in /admin/design and select it.
  4. Confirm or override the auto-detected alloy, computed weight, and stone counts.
  5. Save. The product detail page immediately starts rendering the viewer and using live pricing.

Variants

One CAD file can drive many variants. A ring with three alloy options (14k YG, 14k WG, platinum) and four sizes uses the same STL but different densities and multipliers. Katura computes one volume from the STL and reapplies the alloy density per variant β€” no need to upload three files.

Unlinking is non-destructive. The file stays in /admin/design; only the product loses its linkage. You can re-link the same or a different file at any time.

Tip

For a true bench-to-storefront workflow, link CAD files to products before they are published. The product page won't go live until the link is in place, so you can't accidentally publish a piece without a price.
