Payroll setup

Configure automated payroll.

Overview

Katura includes a full payroll system β€” typically a separate subscription with services like Gusto or ADP. Manage payroll runs, track compensation, and generate reports all from your admin.

Payroll dashboard

Go to Payroll in your admin sidebar (Owner role required). The dashboard shows:

  • Total Gross Pay β€” across all payroll runs
  • Total Net Pay β€” after deductions
  • Employer Cost β€” total cost including employer taxes and benefits
  • Payroll Runs β€” list of all payroll runs with status

Running payroll

  1. Go to Payroll β†’ New Run
  2. Select the pay period and entity (if multi-entity)
  3. Review employee hours, salary, and commission amounts
  4. Submit the payroll run for processing
  5. Generate pay stubs and reports

Multi-entity payroll

If your business operates multiple entities (e.g., retail store + online store), Katura supports separate payroll runs per entity. Filter the dashboard by entity to see entity-specific totals.

Employee compensation

Each employee record tracks:

  • Salary β€” annual salary for salaried employees
  • Hourly rate β€” for hourly employees
  • Commission rate β€” percentage commission on sales
  • Department
  • Manager β€” org chart hierarchy
  • Pay records β€” historical TeamMemberPay entries

Note

Commission amounts from commission tracking are automatically available in payroll runs. No manual entry needed.
